Sreeja Tipirneni, a 9th grade high school student at Friendswood ISD, has been mentored by Dr. Leal this past year working on a project examining how emotion recognition impacts emotional memory across the lifespan. Sreeja recently presented her findings at The Science and Engineering Fair of Houston and The Galveston County Science and Engineering Fair. Her poster was titled “The Effect of Emotion Recognition on Memory Recollection with Comparison of Human Emotion Recognition and Machine Learning.” At the Galveston fair, Sreeja won 1st place in Behavioral Sciences, and 1st place overall (9th grade division). At the Houston fair, Sreeja won a place award: Honorable Mention (4th place) and The Smiti Gandhi Research Star Award. Congratulations Sreeja! Great work!
